Music Management in Europe – 2025 Report
As part of EMMpower 2.0, EMMA published the second edition of Music Management in Europe, expanding on the 2023 baseline study to provide an updated, data-driven picture of the music management profession across Europe. Building on the first report, the 2025 edition deepened EMMA’s evidence base with new survey data, expanded country coverage, and qualitative interviews across all European regions.
The 2025 study analysed how the profession has evolved in response to rapid industry changes, with a particular focus on income levels, diversity and inclusion, geographical disparities, streaming economics, sustainability practices, and the growing impact of AI and digital tools on management work. Updated findings provide new insights on gender equality, career progression, access to resources, and the financial viability of management businesses across Europe.
Reflecting EMMpower 2.0 priorities, the report explored the economic health of management companies, examined working conditions for managers in countries without national organisations, and identified gaps where EU-level and national-level policy intervention is most needed. It also mapped the role of managers in emerging and underrepresented markets, contributing to a more nuanced understanding of sector-wide inequalities.
A key component of the 2025 research was the annual monitoring of diversity, income, and regional participation within the profession. These insights fed directly into EMMA’s advocacy strategies, helping shape policy positions on fair remuneration, mobility, withholding tax, streaming reform, and social sustainability. The findings also guided EMMpower 2.0 activities, including the development of best practice guidelines, codes of practice for inclusion, and tools designed to support marginalised and underrepresented management communities.
Together, the 2023 and 2025 reports form the most comprehensive data set available on Europe’s music managers, providing long-term evidence for strengthening professional pathways and supporting the cultural and economic potential of managers and the artists they represent.
